This is an awesome story. I read it yesterday and realized I'd forgotten to comment!
I love Sam's reaction to seeing Dean, and then how he feels guilty over it, thinking he should be grateful to have just seen Dean one last time before they part ways forever again. And Dean realizing at the end that Sam was thinking about how they were going to end up apart the whole time they were on the hunt was great.
Dean's freak outs over the food and lack of pie was hilarious. And Sam speaking Spanish so well (and the bit where he was thinking about Jess making him take it and the angst that followed that thought) was awesome. I love smart!Sam so so so much. :D
UM, basically I loved everything about this fic. There can never be enough hurt!Sam fic out there where he knows he's on borrowed time until Dean thinks he's past his usefulness, and all without realizing that it wasn't actually Dean who left that voicemail. I have a thing for angsty!hurt!Sam and this fic just hit all of my buttons. hee
Also: I'll be DLing the PDF because I want to keep this fic to read over and over. :D
